From rugged Andean mountains and lush Amazonian jungle, to serene Pacific beaches and the wildlife-rich Galapagos Islands, Ecuador offers a unique landscape for every traveler's taste. The capital city of Quito sits at the foot of Mount Pichincha, an active volcano towering 4700 meters above sea-level. Most of the population lives on the coast, and families enjoy spending time together relaxing and talking after mealtimes. Ecuadorian food has tremendous variety, from hearty soups as the main course, to fresh fish, peanut dishes, squash, beans, and lentils.
Ecuador uses the U.S. dollar as its official currency, so there's never a need to figure out exchange rates. The most popular sport is soccer, and the national team qualified for the 2006 World Cup. Experience life in the tropics while you improve your Spanish speaking with the warm and friendly people of Ecuador!
