With a population of over 127 million people, Japan is one of the most densely populated countries in the World, boasting major metropolises such as Tokyo and Osaka. The island's small size makes travel easy, as most cities are connected by high-speed rail. The Japanese landscape is quite varied, from the snow-capped Mount Fuji in the North to the tropical beaches of Okinawa. Japan is the world's largest producer of technologically advanced products, which has led its society to become more tech-savvy than any other.
The Japanese are quite enamored with American pop culture, and Western trends, musical tastes, and fashion abound. Sports such as baseball and snowboarding are enormously popular, though traditional sumo wrestling remains a national obsession. Japanese society is still very much bound by tradition and a sense of honor, with particular emphasis placed on politeness and courtesy, and this extends to the family as well.
