Since the fall of the Soviet Union, Russia has reinvented itself as a modern democracy. Great cities like St. Petersburg and Moscow have witnessed a rebirth in terms of tourism, the economy, local entertainment, and the arts. Opportunities for historical discovery abound across Russia. Sports are quite popular in Russia, particularly hockey and soccer. Russians are also very fond of games of skill, such as chess, and of the arts, such as ballet.
Russia's young economy is finally starting to bloom, and families are eager to reap the rewards of independent wealth. The Russian people love to sing and laugh together. Experience sights and sounds that were previously off-limits to the average American through a homestay in Russia.
