Switzerland
Despite being a neutral country and refusing to align itself in international organizations, Switzerland is by no means an isolated nation. In fact, the average Swiss citizen is fluent in at least 3 languages and the country is divided into French, German, and Italian speaking regions.
Switzerland is home to some of the finest skiing in the World, and maintains a remarkably beautiful countryside year round. The Swiss are famous for their cleanliness, efficiency, and hospitality, and this reputation extends to family life as well. AHA host families are warm and responsive to students.
Academic Programs Include
Semester, year-long, and short term (1-3 month) programs are available. The rigorous Swiss academic programs are taught in French, German, or Italian depending upon which area the student is placed. The school year in Spain is September to June. Our Swiss host families live throughout the country. Two years of the appropriate language is required. Although most of our host families are in the Italian section surrounding Lugano, other areas may be available. Students may participate in a variety of after-school activities such as sports and music. Tutoring is available.
